Descriptions of Elected Offices
President
The President presides over monthly PTSA meetings, prepares monthly agendas and reports, and reviews meeting minutes. The President ensures that the PTSA operates in accordance with PTSA Bylaws, and spearheads revisions as needed. The President works collaboratively with the Principal and school staff to make sure that programs offered serve the needs of the school community, and is available to talk with parents about ideas or concerns. 1st VP - Grants
The 1st Vice President serves as the primary aide to the President, performs the duties of the President in his/her absence, and oversees the Grants Process and collaborates with the Grants Committee.
2nd VP-Special Programs
The 2nd Vice-President oversees special events like the Lowell Beautification Day, serves as an aide to the President, and is able to perform the duties of the President in his/her absence.
Treasurer
The Treasurer is the authorized custodian of all funds of the Lowell High School PTSA. The Treasurer serves on the Budget Committee, pays by check all authorized bills, transfers funds, maintains accurate and detailed accounting records, and prepares monthly financial reports to present to the association and executive boards. Financial Secretary
The Financial Secretary is responsible for collecting and depositing all monies received by the Lowell High School PTSA and keeps accurate records of deposits. The Financial Secretary also provides this information to the Treasurer to become part of the financial ledger.
Recording Secretary
The Recording Secretary keeps an accurate, concise, permanent record of the proceedings of all meetings of the association and the executive board, to be made available to the association and executive board for approval at the next meeting. (Click here for a full description.)
Auditor
The Auditor performs audits of the financial records twice per year in accordance with the California PTA guidelines and presents the audit findings at the general and executive board meetings.
Historian
The Historian assembles and preserves the PTSA’s record of activities and achievements, and prepares the association's annual report required by California State PTA.

The membership chair works with the membership committee to plan the annual membership campaign. The membership chair is responsible for creating and implementing a membership plan, promoting membership throughout the year, providing membership reports at PTSA board and association meetings, collecting dues, and distributing membership cards (Click here for a full description).
Hospitality
Hospitality acts as official host of a PTA in creating welcoming atmosphere at meetings and events; works with committee and other chairman to organize and set up refreshments, food, decorations, registration, greeters and baby-sitting for PTA meetings and events; maintains hospitality supplies and equipment and an updated inventory for them; presents hospitality budget for approval at executive board meeting at start of the PTA year and monitor authorized budget; reports on hospitality plans at board meetings for forthcoming PTSA events (Click here for a full description).
