PTSA Grants Program

The Lowell PTSA Grants Program is at the heart of our association. Every year, we provide money for programs and projects that enhance the educational experience of Lowell students. The money for these grants comes from annual membership dues and generous donations to the Lowell PTSA.

The total funding for grants is determined year to year based on many factors including the amount of donations made by the Lowell community. The Lowell PTSA is solely responsible for funding decisions.  Grant requests may be submitted by administrators, faculty, staff, coaches, and students who are current members of the PTSA.

PTSA grants support the full range of student experiences at Lowell — from classes to clubs, from art to science, from music to sports.  For example, we have received and funded requests for equipment and supplies for clubs, academic programs, and athletics; admission fees and expenses for field trips and conferences; supplies for science projects; program expenses for performing arts programs; and fees for student tests.

During the 2024-25 school year, the PTSA awarded 58 grants:  36% for student life programs, 33% for arts, 15% for STEM, 9% for athletics, and 7% for supplies.  The grant awards totaled almost $150,000:  47% for arts, 21% for student life programs, 20% for STEM, 10% for athletics, and 3% for supplies.  Approximately 63% of our funding supported clubs and extra-curricular activities, and 37% supported classes.

During the 2024-25 school year, the largest grant was for $17,169, the smallest was for $50, and the median grant size was $1,356.  You should not rely on the PTSA Grants program to fund your entire project, especially if the budget is large.  We encourage collaboration among a variety of funding sources.
