On Call Volunteer Opportunities (varying time, tasks can be performed at home or on campus)
- Lowell College Center provides information and support to students interested in applying to college and learning about careers. Volunteers sign up for a 3 hour (morning or afternoon) shift every week.
- Book to Book (B2B) is the on campus store where students can purchase school supplies and Lowell branded merchandise (sweatshirts, t-shirts, mugs, etc.). All proceeds benefit the Lowell PTSA. Volunteers sign up for a 2 hour shift(s) every week.
Specific Event Volunteer Opportunities (1-3 hours for on-campus events on specific days)
- Parent Coffee/Reception: During new student orientation in August, the PTSA hosts a coffee reception for parents. Volunteers welcome these parents, answer questions, encourage them to join the PTSA, and give mini tours of the College Center.
- Teacher Appreciation activities: At the beginning of the school year, the PTSA welcomes teachers by providing breakfast and lunch. At the end of the school year, the PTSA shows its appreciation by providing another lunch in late April or early May. Volunteers sign up to get food, set up, serve, and/or clean up.
- 8th Grade Night: 8th graders and their families are invited to a Lowell open house this evening. Volunteers answer questions and greet our visitors, and help with other tasks, e.g., crowd control, parking, etc.
- Back to School Night (September): Before back to school night, the PTSA provides dinner to the teachers and staff. Volunteers sign up to set up, serve, and/or clean up.
- SFUSD Enrollment Fair (fall): Answer questions from parents of 8th graders; Gym @ SF City College.
- Beautification Day (spring): Students and families come together to spruce up the Lowell campus on Beautification Day. Volunteers can clean, paint and garden in the morning and/or afternoon shifts.
- 9th Grade Registration (March): Incoming 9th grade families register at Lowell during a two week period in March. Volunteers sign up for 1-2 hour shifts on specific days to welcome the newest members to our community and to answer questions.
On Call Volunteer Opportunities (varying time, tasks can be performed at home or on campus)
- English Plus: The PTSA is committed to creating an inclusive community that includes families with limited English language skills. English Plus is a group of multilingual parents who can be available to answer questions in another language. These parents can also be asked to translate announcements or to provide interpretation at meetings or events. The time commitment can vary according to one’s schedule.
